Making The Best Digital Wedding Photographs Even Better

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Brides and grooms alike are now enlisting the expertise of professionals to get the best digital wedding photography for that special occasion. And why not? They would surely want to have the best photo taken so that the memories will be preserved as long as they live.

Whether you use a digital camera, or a traditional camera for taking wedding photos, you should know that thanks to technological advances, any photographs or negative slides can be slide scanning, digitally enhanced and burned onto CD for preservation purposes.

Today, people are more dependent on their computers than ever before. With computers, they can easily upload their wedding pictures and share them with family and friends all over the world. This means that you do not have to rely on snail mails just to send your pictures. They can be sent and viewed nearly instantaneous.

This is one of the many advantages of digital photography. If taken properly, you are assured that you and you partner will never regret having used digital photography for your wedding pictures.

Below are some of the tips to get the best digital photography for your wedding. Choose the right background. Photos can really look great once they are shot with the perfect background.

You can use the decorations in the church and in the reception areas as a back draft for your photos. Be sure to fix some scattered decorations so that they will appear simply perfect on photos.

Always remind the photographer to check if the view is good when taking pictures. It does not mean that you have to stand on the same corner or place. The best photographer is able to make even the simplest of background look great on photo if it is taken in the right angle.

Look out for any kinds of glass. Glasses tend to cause reflections in photos. May it be an eyeglass, window or wine glasses. One way or another, they will cause a reflection or brightness to reflect back on the camera it is included in the picture.

To avoid this, the position of the camera can be altered so that it will not directly hit the glass. The photo can be taken sideways or downwards but never on eye level. The perfect timing. Persons being photographed should not always be looking at the camera. And they do not have to be smiling at the lens too.

One way of doing it is to wait for the right moment so that you can have a candid shot at them. You will see that catching persons on film when they are in their candid state is much better than having them wearing a fixed expression.

Candid moments make photos look real and natural. Review each photo. To maximize the memory that your digital camera has, it is best to review every shot taken. There might be duplicates that can be removed so that you can free more space for a different shot.

You will probably want the best and the maximum number of digital wedding photography shots so you need to make the most of the capacity of the digital camera.

With a Digital Picture Frame you don’t need a PC or Mac to enjoy your photos, you don’t have to give your precious memory card to a pricey photo lab to print them out and you don’t have to print them out on your own inkjet printer, wasting lots of expensive ink cartridges.

Digital Photo Frames allow you to enjoy your snapshots almost instantly. Just take your memory card out of your digital camera, insert it into your Digital Picture Frame, turn it on and – presto! – here they are, displayed in vivid colour on your Digital Photo Frame’s crisp and crystal clear high resolution screen.

Online Photography Service Helps Customers Preserve Photos

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Online professional photography service, BritePix, offers customers a way to safely preserve their photographs using the latest in digital formatting technology.

June 11, 2009 (MIAMI, FL) BritePix, an online photography service, comes to the rescue of many photograph owners every month by Slide Scanning photographs to create digital images that will essentially last forever. These digital images are stored on DVD’s or CD’s, giving BritePix customers a convenient and safe way to keep their photographs safe from the elements that typically ruin photographs over time.

The traditional methods of storing photographs can severely damage photographs. Keeping photographs in cardboard boxes, old photo albums, bags, shoeboxes, drawers, or other convenient storage areas can lead to deterioration of the photographs. Many people find out too late that their photographs have been destroyed.

It is widely known today that the usual storage methods are the problem because most of them, especially old photo albums, bags, and cardboard boxes, contain acid that will ruin photographs. Over time, the acid is transferred from the storage container to the photograph, destroying the image little by little. The photograph may be completely destroyed before the deterioration is noticed.

One of the latest trends in photograph archiving is scrapbooking. Scrapbooking is a safe way to store photographs because the materials are acid-free. Although scrapbooking has gained many fans during the past few years, it is quite expensive and labor intensive. Many people cannot afford the time or money required for scrapbooking projects. Some of those that previously used scrapbooking for their photograph storage have abandoned this method because of the ongoing costs.

Digital image storage is the solution for those searching for an inexpensive, safe, and convenient way to store their photographs. The digital images can be stored on computers, CD’s, or DVD’s. The scanned images can be enhanced for a professional quality photograph. Enhancements include brightening colors, sharpening images, and disguising blemishes, such as scratches, tears, and other marks. The typical dangers of print photographs, such as light, water, and acid, cannot harm the digital images. Owners can make as many copies or prints of the photographs as needed.

The demand for digital photograph scanning continues to increase as people look for cheaper and safer ways to store their photographs. Photograph scanning is by far the most cost-effective way to store photographs, and once a photograph is scanned, there are no worried about the photograph deteriorating, fading, or being lost. Both amateur and professional photographers are realizing the many advantages of scanning photographs to a digital format.

BritePix is committed to offering customers the best prices and services for photograph scanning. Their professional scanning equipment produces high quality, enhanced digital images on DVD’s or CD’s for convenient storage and viewing.

About BritePix: BritePix is an online professional photography service that specializes in scanning photographs, slides, and negatives. How To Convert Slides To Digital Pictures

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

If you’ve been an amateur photographer for any length of time then odds are you’ve got stacks of slides and/or negatives laying around. It’s probably time to look into converting those to digital pictures. So if you are looking to convert your slides to digital pictures you have a few options.

1. Do It Yourself…the Hard Way

You’ll need a digital camera, a light box and a tripod for this. But if you have all three then this is probably the route for you. Just setup your digital camera on the tripod, place a slide on the lightbox, zoom in tight with your camera and shoot. Then you can shoot each of your slides, save them to your computer, do a little cropping to eliminate each slide’s white border and you’re done.

2. Do It Yourself…the Easy Way

Probably the easiest way to convert your slides to digital pictures yourself is to buy an off-the-shelf slide to digital picture converter. Yes, these do exist and they don’t cost as much as you might think.

You just load a slide or negative into the machine, press a button and a high resolution digital picture is made. The process is quick and fairly painless.

Plus, with a slide to digital picture converter you control the end product. If you don’t like how one of the conversions looks, just do it again.

3. Hire Someone Else to Convert the Slides

One final option that you have is to hire someone else to convert the slides for you. If you just don’t have time to do it yourself then by all means try to find a company that can do it for you. This is the most expensive of the three options but you won’t have to invest any of you time and you’ll get all of your Slide Scanning and negatives converted.

Getting The Right Scanner For Your Photographs

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

The majority of consumers now own a digital camera versus a film camera. However, even in these instances, many still possess film, negatives, and prints that they would like to store digitally, edit, and/or print. The security of storing images digitally and the flexibility of being able to alter and improve such images via editing are very attractive options for prized photographs taken some time ago.

A scanner is a simple and reliable way of converting images into digital form. The most common devices available to consumers are flatbed and film scanners. Determining which scanner to purchase can be made simple by thinking through just a few of the options.

Flatbed scanners are designed specifically for use with photographic prints, paper documents, and even three dimensional objects although some offer a transparency hood or adapter to use them with slides and negatives. Flatbed scanners are a good all round scanner.

Film scanners on the other hand are designed specifically for scanning transparencies, film, and negatives. These scanners offer better resolution for film and negatives than a flatbed and thus are a better choice if a high volume of this type of work is expected. They allow users to scan each frame separately, adjusting resolution per frame.

For those wanting to copy from books, flatbed scanners with a sheet feed function should be avoided as only loose sheets can be fed through. Sheet feed devices also create the risk of jamming.

For those consumers who want to be able to scan, print, and copy with a single device there are multi-function scanners available. These can certainly save on desk space.

What size images/documents will be scanned?

The bed size on a flatbed scanner can vary from the standard 8.5″ x 11.7″ and to 12″x 17″ and larger. Obviously, a large size bed would allow multiple images to be scanned on a single page or to scan larger documents and images.

How much image quality is needed?

The quality is determined primarily by color depth/bit depth and resolution. Bit depth is the amount of information each pixel can carry. More is better of course, but certainly 36 to 48 bit is plenty for most uses.

Resolution is measured in pixels per inch (or ppi); sometimes referred to as samples per inch (or spi). For those scanning text documents 300dpi may be sufficient, but for quality photo scanning 1200 dpi would be the minimum, while film/negatives would require at least 2400dpi.

Dynamic range, which determines the bright to dark range that the scanner picks up is a factor with film scanners. For such devices, a dynamic range of 3.2 would be considered the minimum for good quality.

Is scan speed important?

The speed at which a single document or image can be scanned may be important for those with high volume work. Just as with a printer it can be reported in pages per minute (ppm) but can vary quite a bit based on the resolution and other parameters. Generally speaking, 10-20 seconds to scan an average 8 x10″ image is better than average speed.

Is the scanner compatible with other hardware?

For all but the older computers, a USB 2.0 or Firewire connection is appropriate. Firewire allows for the fastest data transfer. Consumers should always assure that their new scanner will have compatible connections to their existing hardware.

What functions will be needed?

Most scanners will allow images to scan to print, scan to file, fax, or e-mail with the push of a button. They should also come with the software necessary to scan, edit and even take text to a word processing file. For those wanting a flatbed scanner that will also scan film or slides, the scanner will also need an adapter of some type. Consumers should think through what they want to do with their scanned images to assure that the functions they need are included.

With the introduction of the digital camera to consumers on a large scale, the advantages of storing, editing, and printing from the digital form were readily recognized. For those with images that are in the form of prints, negatives, or Slide Scanning, using a scanner is a convenient and simple way to convert these images and get the advantages that are traditionally associated with those produced by a digital versus film camera.

It Is About Time To Switch To A Digital Camera

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

Are you still using a film base camera? if you are than this article is for you. You probably know by now that you are becoming a minority as more and more people switch to digital cameras. This article lists some reasons why you should also consider making that switch.

Digital cameras are not just a hyped buzz word. They have real advantages over film cameras. In the beginning of the digital era many claimed that digital cameras are inferior in quality to film cameras. One of the main arguments was that printing enlargement from digital photos results in poor quality. While this was true back then new digital cameras with modern sensors and a large number of mega pixels provide superior quality even when printing enlargements.

Just having the same or better photo quality is not a good enough reason to switch. Using digital cameras and digital photos and switching to digital media has many advantages, here are just a few:
photo cost: digital cameras take digital photos that are stored on digital media. For all practical purposes the marginal cost of taking digital photos is zero. You can view, manipulate and discard such digital photos without spending a dime. If you were using film you would have to spend money on developing the film roll in order to view your photos. Developing prints would cost more.

Photo capacity: digital cameras store digital photos on digital media. With modern memory chipsets the storage available on such media is practically infinite. You can hold thousands and more photos on each media card and since these cards are so small you can easily carry extra cards with you. With infinite photo capacity you can take many photos without thinking of the problem of running out of space. With old film cameras each roll would typically hold 36 photos. Film rolls were relatively big and you could only carry so many rolls with you. The result was thinking twice before taking a photo and in many cases missing great photo opportunities.

Immediate feedback: a great feature of digital cameras is the ability to immediately view the photos taken. Such immediate feedback allows better photos since you can check the composition and the quality of the photo and immediately take more photos to correct what you found was wrong. With old film cameras you had to wait until the film was developed in order to review the photos. Obviously at that time it was not possible to shoot the photo again to correct any problems in the photo.

Photo manipulation: digital photos are computer files stored on digital media. As such they can be easily manipulated with photo processing software. Such software can reside built-in the digital camera or installed on your personal computer. Photo processing software allows such manipulation as red-eye removal, contrast enhancements and more. Such manipulation is impossible with film cameras. The only way to manipulate film based photos is by converting them to digital photos through the process of photo scanning or Slide Scanning.

Adapt to changing conditions: digital cameras use electronic sensors instead of physical film. The camera can electronically set the sensor to different modes in order to support different photo shooting conditions such as different light conditions, different light sources, speed of the object photographed etc. The sensor settings can be changed instantly for each photo taken. With film cameras each film roll would be designed for a specific condition such as different light sensitivities, granularity and more. Once a film was loaded you had to take shoot the complete roll using the sane setting, or change rolls.

Longevity: digital photos never lose their quality. Digital photos are digitally saved on digital media and as such they will be identical tomorrow and 1000 years from now. They do not turn yellow and do not fade as film prints.

Scanning Photos For The Motor Home Owner

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

Whether you are running a Featherlite or a Fleetwood, if you’re spending serious time on the road then you probably want to take as many of the comforts of home with you as you can. No matter how big your rig is you’ll never find room for those photo albums or boxes of photos you have stored in the closet. And even if you had room you probably shouldn’t expose your photos to the additional risks that traveling presents.

It’s easy to take your entire photo collection anywhere. Every photo you have can be stored on a DVD or two. Some people elect to scan their own photograph by purchasing a scanner. Others decide to send them to a professional photo scanning service. With some great scanning services charging as little as a nickel each this is a popular choice.

Once you have scanned your photos you have permanently stopped them from the natural process of deterioration caused by aging and decay. Digitized photos are easily and inexpensively copied so you can put complete copies of your photos in different locations. This protects them from destruction by natural causes. It also allows you to give complete sets of all of your photos to family members.

One great way to view your photos once you have them scanned is to create a slideshow that you can watch on TV. This is the perfect project for those evenings “on the trail”. Slideshow software makes it easy to add captions to your photographs and also include your favorite music. If you’re not feeling that creative, you can easily find companies that will build a slideshow just the way you want it.

A great way to show off your scanned images is to load them into a digital picture frame. Some of the better frames come with slideshow capabilities, and can play music. The good news is that the price of digital frames is coming down, so be sure to shop wisely. Memory cards for storing your slideshows or digital photos have really come down in price. For a few bucks you can store all of your photos in the picture frame. So if you’re traveling to see family or meeting new friends on the trail, having your photos on a digital picture frame will be great.

If you have large numbers of photos then doing them yourself could be an incredibly boring task. You could consider using one of the photo scanning services found online. But, shop carefully as prices and services vary greatly. Make sure you understand what your requirements are. For example you shouldn’t be paying to scan ordinary photos at a higher resolution than 300 dpi. You can find great photo Slide Scanning services for as little as a nickel.

Having your photographs scanned is just another feather in your cap. Not only do you have that little extra piece of home permanently with you, but you have the satisfaction of knowing that the historic record of your family’s images are permanently protected from aging, decay, and disaster. Another advantage is that you’ll be able to easily add the digital photos you are taking now to you photo collection and not have them in two different formats. Digitizing your photos makes them easy to store and reproduce. Viewing them on a TV or a digital picture frame can be fantastic.
